Akshay Kumar's Rustom has recorded an excellent start at the Box Office. The film recorded collections of Rs 14.11 crore on its opening day, 12 August.

Rustom managed to record strong occupancy in the metros, the credit for which goes to Akshay, who has won over multiplex viewers with his previous outings - like Special 26, Holiday, Baby and Airlift.

The morning shows opened to packed houses at most of the circuits. Following the routine dip in occupancy in the afternoon shows, the film gained momentum again towards the evening shows and late night shows.

However, as expected, the collections of Rustom at the mass circuits is underwhelming owing to the subject and a lack of commercial elements. The collections may witness a minor drop on 14 August but is bound to pick up on 14 and 15 August.

Akshay's Airlift, which belonged to a similar genre, opened at collections close to Rs 12 crore. This means that the clash with Mohenjo Daro has not made much of difference to Rustom.

Rustom was designed with a limited appeal in mind, something that has been validated by the sheer number of audiences in urban centers who flocked to watch the film on Day 1.

The all-India distribution rights of Rustom were sold to Kumar Mangat for Rs 40 crore and going by the initial response, the film will be a profitable venture for the distributor.
