Visaaranai's Hindi remake by Priyadarshan not to have Akshay Kumar, confirms Vetrimaaran

Filmmaker Priyadarshan has teamed up to make the Hindi version of Vetrimaaran's critically acclaimed Tamil drama Visaaranai. Confirming the news to IANS, Vetrimaaran said:

"Yes, the Hindi remake rights have been acquired by Priyadarshan."

Priyadarshan will not just direct the film but produce it as well. As soon as the news broken in, speculation started running around that actor Akshay Kumar will be seen in the film. However, Vetrimaaran denid any such reports and said:

"Akshay being a part of the film is just a rumour. It's not true."

Based on Tamil novel Lock Up by auto driver M. Chandrakumar, the film is partly inspired by real events from his own life.

The film, which had its world premiere at the Venice International Film Festival last year, is currently running in Indian theatres. It features Dinesh, Samuthirakani, Ajay Ghosh and Kishore in important roles.
