Woman mistakenly declared dead by doctor, wakes up at her funeral

It must be a terrifying moment for an alive woman who pronounced dead by a doctor in Paraguay. Luckily, she came back to life as funeral parlor workers were all set to prepare her body after doctors informed her family she is no more.

According to reports in dailymail.co.uk, the woman named Gladys Rodriguez Duarte, who is an ovarian cancer patient. Due to her high blood pressure, she was rushed to San Fernando Clinic in the city of Coronel Oviedo on Saturday morning.


As per Paraguay National Police, the sick woman was admitted to the hospital at 9:30 am and Dr. Heriberto Vera check her.

Dr. Vera declared Duarte dead at 11:20 am before relaying information to her husband Maximino Duarte Ferreira and daughter Sandra Duarte.

The physician cited that she died because of her cervical cancer.

Sandra Duarte slammed Dr. Vera's judgment and said he just wrote her mother off instead of attempting to bring her back to life.

Duarte’s daughter told Paraguayan television network TV Aire, “He assumed she was dead and handed her naked to me like an animal with her death certificate. He didn't even revive her.”

She also added that we have trusted the doctor that’s why they weren’t there in the hospital. But they disconnected her and passed her off to the funeral home.

Reportedly, the hospital handed over a body bag containing Rodriguez’s corpse to personnel of Duarte and Sons Funeral.

However, Duarte’s left shocked when they saw the body of Rodriguez was moving inside the bag and they unloaded her at the funeral parlor.

After taking out Duarte from the body bag, she was immediately taken to one of Paraguay's Social Welfare Institute medical facilities and placed under observation.
