Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the use of sanitiser has become the basic needs of humans as it protects us from the deadly virus. Several cases have been reported across the world when people drink sanitiser and suffered some serious health issues. One such case has been reported during the civic body’s Education budget on Monday in Maharashtra’s Mumbai.

A Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) Deputy Municipal Commissioner Ramesh Pawar mistakenly took a sip from a sanitiser’s bottle while presenting the budget.

The video of the incident also went viral on social media.

In the clip, Ramesh Pawar can be seen picking up the sanitiser bottle instead of a water bottle. He then took a sip from it. As he realized his mistake, corporators present in the hall pointed it out and Ramesh spat it out immediately.

The video of the incident tweeted by news agency ANI with a caption, “BMC Joint Municipal Commissioner Ramesh Pawar accidentally drinks from a bottle of hand sanitiser, instead of a bottle of water, during the presentation of Budget in Mumbai.”

While talking to news agency ANI, Ramesh Pawar, BMC Jt Commissioner said, “I thought that I should drink water before starting my speech so I lifted the bottle & drank. Bottles of water & sanitiser kept there, were similar. So it happened. As soon as I drank it, I realised the mistake & didn't gulp it all the way down."

The video of the incident has gone viral and garnered around 5k views and received several likes and retweets.

After the incident, Ramesh Pawar went out of the hall and returned after a short break. He also completed the presentation of the budget and didn’t face any health-related issues, officials said.
