Uttarakhand Assembly Polls: BJP president Ajay Bhatt loses

Despite the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) being on top of the Uttarakhand Assembly elections, state party President Ajay Bhatt, who was contesting from Ranikhet Assembly constituency, was defeated by his Congress counterpart Karan Mahara.

Mahara defeated Bhatt by around 4,981 votes in the polls.

On the contrary, the BJP has gained a significant majority in the state with 55 seats, while the Congress is trailing with 13 seats.

Meanwhile, the trends in Uttar Pradesh show the BJP leading in 316 seats, the Congress leading in 11 seats, the Samajwadi Party leading in 65 seats while Mayawati-led Bahujan Samajwadi Party (BSP) ahead in 18 seats.
