Sushil Kumar suffers defeat against Azarbaijan's Gadzhiyev in World Wrestling Championships

Indian wrestler Sushil Kumar succumbed to defeat against Khadzhimurad Gadzhiyev from Azerbaijan during the first round of the World Wrestling Championship in 74 kg catagory on Friday.

Sushil Kumar who is an Olympic Medallist, succumbed to 11-9 loss against the Azerbaijan wrestler. Sushil Kumar still hopes he can register his place in the Olympic and also claim the bronze medal but that is only possible if Gadzhiyev enters the final.


Previously, Bajrang Punia (65kg) registered his spot for the 2020 Tokya Olympics after a brilliant 8-1 victory over Jong Son from North Korea.

Furthermore, Vinesh Poghat the first Indian wrestler to book his place in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. Vinesh Poghat wrestles in the 53 kg category.
