BSP has cancelled the ticket allocation to controversial leader Kadir Rana's brother Noor Salim Rana alias Pappu Rana from Charthwal Vidhan Sabha seat in an unexpected move. Kadir Rana was accused of being involved in the 2013 Muzaffarnagar riots.

His name was officially announced by senior leader Nasimmuddin Siddiqui in a one-day convention of BSP workers. Salim Jeidi, husband of Kurshida Fatima (block chief of Charthwal), is the new candidate.

Party workers and local leaders had been upset with Noor Salim since quite some time for ignoring his constituency and failing to visit it for long periods of time. Legislator Noor Salim is a relative of senior BSP leader Munkad Ali and younger brother of former MP Kadir Rana. He was elected from Charthwal seat on a BSP ticket in 2012.
