A 7-foot tall bronze statue of the Virgin Mary inside a church in New Mexico seems to be 'crying', says church leaders.

However, this isn't human tears that she is shedding but according to an investigator, her tears have the same chemical composition as the olive oil treated with perfume. This is the same substance which is used as a sacred oil in the Catholic church to sanctify the parishioners.

Church leaders believe that this phenomenon is a rare occurrence. This has even brought people from across the world to come for conversions, confessions and also see the statue of the Mary cry.

On Tuesday, author of the book 'The Vatican Prophecies' said, "The Catholic church has a long history of believing in supernatural signs," He even said that people have curiosity and enthusiasm when something like this happens to prove God's existence.
