Thai Cave: Fifth boy rescued, seen on a stretcher

The fifth soccer player was rescued on Monday from Tham Luang cave in the northern province of Chiang Rai. Medical personnel carried a person lying flat in an ambulance.

According to a navy official, "The fifth boy has been rescued from a group of 12 young soccer players and their coach." Navy officials said,"Yes, one has come out already." The soccer team and their coach were trapped in a waterlogged cave on June 23 because of the heavy rains.

On Sunday, four boys were rescued and are in good condition in a local hospital. However, there are no details about the fifth boy's condition.

According to the authorities, the mission could take three or four days as it is a race against the time and rain.

The chief of the rescue mission, Narongsak Osottanakorn told in a conference, that a team had gone into the cave to rescue the remaining boys at 11 a.m. and he expected good news soon.
