This is the beginning of the change in the length of daylight hours. This is a significant day as the sun moves across the celestial equator. Today, daytime and nighttime are of approximately equal duration all over the planet.

On this day, sunrise and sunset would be in exact positions over all countries on eastern and western horizons. Day and night would be 12 hrs each.
Myth: Gravitational pull in the sunlight
It is commonly believed that today an egg can balance vertically. This is more myth than science, but yes you can balance an egg on end on the equinox.
Stonehenge in the United Kingdom
“Stonehenge” site is a point where a lot of people gather to witness the fall of the equinox.
