Prime Minister of Malaysia Mahathir Mohamad on Friday said that a controversial Islamic preacher Zakir Naik would not be sent back. Naik is a television preacher who left India in 2016 and sheltered in Muslim dominated country Malaysia where he was later given permanent residency.

Mahathir said,"As long as he is not creating any problem, we will not deport him because he has been given permanent residency status."

A report stated that Indian government has asked Malaysia to send Naik for hate speeches inciting youth to terror activities. Naik has denied this report of his return and called it 'totally baseless and false', he even added that he has no such plan to return to India.

Neither Indian nor Malay officials have confirmed the extradition request or the existence of any charges again Naik.

In the year 2010, Naik was barred from getting inside Britain for his unacceptable behaviour.
