China's People's Liberation Army and Pakistan's border troops are jointly patrolling the border between Pakistan Occupied Kashmir and China's Xinjiang province after reports that more 100 Uighurs have left to join the Islamic State.

The joint patrol was reported by the state-run People's Daily Online, which published photos of the patrol on Thursday captioned "the frontier defence regiment of the People's Liberation Army (PLA) in Xinjiang, along with a border police force from Pakistan, carry out a joint patrol along the China-Pakistan border", reports The Indian Express.

According to US think-tank New America Foundation, China's religious restrictions on its Muslim minorities may have driven 114 Uighurs to join ISIS.
