UP: Man sneaks into his newlywed lover's room, tries to take her with him

A 25-year-old man lost his life after being beaten up at the house of his lover’s in-laws in Uttar Pradesh’s Deoria district. As per the police, the incident happened after the victim allegedly tried to take his lover from her in-laws' house on Wednesday.

The victim, identified as Pankaj Mishra was from Bihar’s Sivan. He was in a love affair with a woman of his village. The woman got married to Deoria native on 8th December.


On Wednesday, Pankaj Mishra and his friends sneaked into the woman’s room in her marital house. As they tried to take away the woman from the house, a fight broke out between her in-laws and them.

“The woman’s husband Vikas and father-in-law Jitendra Pandey became injured. Hearing noise from the house, villagers caught Pankaj and started beating him. On being informed, police rushed Pankaj to Bhatpar Rani Community Health Centre, from where he was referred to the district hospital. There, he died during the treatment,” a report by TOI quoted Deoria SP Dr Sripati Mishra as saying.

In another horrific incident reported from Uttar Pradesh, 35-year-old woman, who was allegedly gangraped, has claimed that she was raped again by a sub-inspector when she went to a police station to lodge a complaint.

According to the victim, the sub-inspector took her to an adjoining room on the pretext of lodging her complaint and sexually assaulted her. The alleged incident happened at the police station.

Additional Director General of Police of Bareilly, Avinash Chandra, has given the order to inquiry about the complaint of the woman.
