UP: Local politicians, Policeman caught selling liquor amid lockdown in Prayagraj

A shocking news was reported from Uttar Pradesh’s Prayagraj where police have detained three persons including a local politician and policeman for selling seized alcohol amid the Coronavirus lockdown on Friday.

As per reports, the liquor they were selling was seized by the police in a raid a month ago at Raiya village under Soraon police station. One of the accused identified as Ziya Lal is a BJP leader and the former village head while one of the head constable identified as Vijay Bahadur was also involved in the crime.


Two other accused identified as Raj Kumar and Dhara Patel were also involved in this crime. All four accuse sold at least 100 cartons of alcohol which was seized during the raid.

As per police, they received information that two people are selling alcohol at a very high price in Raiya village. On hearing this they along with the team caught the three accuse red hand from the spot.

Prayagraj SSP Anirudh Pankaj has filed an FIR against the all four accused while the constable Vijay Bahadur is absconding. Police have started a manhunt to nab the accuse.
