In an appalling incident reported from Uttar Pradesh’s Saharanpur district, four burglars forced into a house and gang-raped a girl after stealing Rs 4.67 lakh.

The crime happened in Nanauta area on Wednesday. Following the burglary, the four accused abducted the girl and took her to a nearby field where the four robbers took turn to rape the victim.

According to a report in Hindi daily Hindustan, police have registered a case against four accused two of whom have been named in the FIR.

However, the police have denied the gang-rape charge and termed it a case of loot.

On the authority of the FIR, the four men barged into the house at midnight and took the house owner hostage and looted Rs 4.67 lakh and other gold jewellery. Later, they kidnapped the girl and took her to a nearby cane field and gang-raped her.

On Thursday, the victim got back to her residence from the field after she regained consciousness and narrated her ordeal to her family. The girl further stated that she has recognised two accused who are from her village. The girl's father later accompanied her to the police station to lodge a complaint.

Atul Sharma, SP said, "We have received a complaint from the girl's father. A case has been filed under sections of rape and theft. We are probing the case and action will be taken accordingly."
