In an incident reported from Uttar Pradesh’s Firozabad, an 18-year-old girl was allegedly murdered by a 25-year-old man, who used to stalk her. The victim was an undergraduate student.

The incident happened on Friday evening when the girl was on her way back home after handing over dinner to the members of her family who were harvesting the wheat crop on a field. While on her way back home, the girl was allegedly throttled by the accused, identified as Pawan, said Firozabad’s Jasrana circle officer Baldev Khaneda.

On interrogating, the police came to know that the accused had been stalking the now-deceased girl for a long time. On Friday, he allegedly tried to force himself on her. But the girl resisted his advances and threatened him by saying that she would complaint to her parents about the incident. Pawan got angry and strangled her, as per a report of the TOI.

As the girl didn’t return home in the evening, the villagers started looking for her. At around 3 am, the accused went to hide her body in a field when he was caught by the villagers, who later handed him over to the police.

A case under Section 302 of the Indian Penal Code was filed against the accused.
