In a shocking incident reported from Madhya Pradesh, two men were taken into police custody for kidnapping a woman and pouring an acid-substance into her eyes when she resisted a rape attempt

The 20-year-old victim, who is a resident of Baraho village in Madhya Pradesh's Panna district, was allegedly abducted along with her sibling, by two individuals on Wednesday.

When the woman stood up to a rape attempt, the two accused poured an acid-like substance into her eyes. The brother of the victim was also beaten up by the accused, police said.

As maintained by the cops, the accused tortured the victim after suspecting that she helped one of their relatives to run away from the village.

"On Wednesday, the two accused first kidnapped the victim and her brother. When they failed to extract any information about their relative who had eloped, they tried to rape her and poured acid-like substance into her eyes as she resisted the attempt," police said.

DSP Dharamraj Meena said the two accused were identified by the victim and arrested from a field on Wednesday.

"The two accused have been identified as Sumer Singh and Goldi Raja. Both of them are relatives and were arrested late at night," Dharamraj said.

Following their arrest, the two accused were paraded through the village. They will be taken before the court on Thursday, police said.

In the meantime, the victim was referred to an eye hospital in Chitrakoot after being treated at a Panna district hospital.
