Pune: Man posts woman’s objectionable photos on social media after she rejects his proposal

Irked over a woman declining his proposal, a man made a fake social media account and used it to share her objectionable photos along with her phone number in Pune. Following which, his love interest, was inundated with phone calls from strangers who would seek sexual favours from the woman.

As per the police, the accused and the woman studied in the same college. After graduating, they joined different software firms in Pune. The accused used to like the woman, but she rejected his proposal. Irked over this, he decided to tarnish her repute.


“The 27-year-old woman was continuously receiving calls from unknown persons and one of the callers told her that her photographs and number had been shared on the social networking site,” a report by The Times of India quoted a police officer as saying.

After the incident, the woman lodged a police complaint. Acting on the complaint the police tracked down the accused and took him into custody him. He has been booked under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) for outraging the modesty of a woman. Relevant charges under the Information and Technology Act have also been invoked against him.
