Heavy rains cripple life in Gurugram

 |  Updated on: 29 July 2016, 16:19 IST

The monsoon has again crippled life in the National Capital Region (NCR). This time in Gurugram.

While incessant rains caused massive water logging, long traffic jams and general chaos in Delhi, Gurrugram was hit the hardest by the heavy downpour.

Life almost came to a halt.

On Thursday, heavy rainfall choked the Delhi-Gurgaon expressway. Commuters were stuck for over four hours in massive traffic jams as vehicles struggled to move and pedestrians waded through knee-deep water.

Some areas in Gurugram were under four feet of water logging.

Roads and by-lanes in areas like DLF phases, Bristol Chowk, Golf Course Road, Signature Tower, Sector 15, Sikanderpur and Mahavir Chowk were flooded due to the choked drains.

Waterlogging was also reported in most of the areas like Sushant Lok, Sohna Road, Nirvana Country and areas around Huda City Centre and Medanta Medicity.

With rains continuing through Friday there may be no respite from the water-logging situation in Delhi NCR and the Delhi-Gurgaon Expressway.

Either way, traffic is going to remain slow and cumbersome due to Kanwar Yatra and till the monsoon ends.
