Families of 4 accused killed in Hyderabad encounter move SC, seek criminal action against cops

The families of the four accused, who were killed in an encounter with the Telangana Police, on Thursday moved to the Supreme Court (SC) seeking registration of FIR, investigation and criminal action against the police personnel who were involved in the encounter.

"Families of the four accused, who were killed in Telangana encounter, filed plea in the Supreme Court seeking registration of FIR, investigation, and criminal action against Telangana police personnel who were involved in the encounter," tweeted news agency, ANI.


 

On December 6, the state government had formed a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe the encounter killing of the four gang-rape accused amid many hues and cry over the incident.

 A team of National Human Rights Commission of India (NHRC), The NHRC team, including a forensic medicine expert, had examined the bodies and also visited Chattanpalli village, about 50 kms from here, the spot where the charred remains of the woman were found beneath a culvert on November 28, and also the nearby encounter site.

As part of its inquiry, family members of the accused were also brought to the city from Narayanpet district.

Notably, the four people accused in the rape and murder of woman veterinarian in were killed in an encounter with the police on December 6, between 3 am and 6 am.

The woman doctor was brutally gang-raped and killed before she was burnt to death.
