A 19-year-old boy stabbed his parents and sister after he was repeatedly reprimanded by them for skipping college and flying kites. The incident happened in south Delhi’s Vasant Kunj that baffled the police.

In the beginning, it was looking like robber but several clues pointed to the son of the victim Suraj Verma who was arrested on Wednesday.

During the interrogation, he revealed that he was tired of reprimanding from his parents for not studying and skipping college and lately for wasting time in flying kites on 15 August.

Suraj decided to commit crime when he was allegedly beaten up by his father Mihilesh Verma, said the police.
On Tuesday, he bought a knife and a pair of scissors when he went out with his friends. He spent time with the family and saw albums with his parents till midnight.

At 3 am, he went straight to his parents’ room after having woken up. He stabbed his 44-year-old father multiple times in the chest and stomach and then he stabbed 38-year-old mother Sia. Then he went to his 15-year-old sister’s room and stabbed her in the neck.

He allegedly ransacked the house and cleaned his fingerprints from the knife and he told neighbors that they were killed by neighbours.

But it was made clear by a forensic team that Suraj had washed off his footprints in the bathroom.

A police officer said “He felt he failed his Boards since his father had asked him to supervise the construction of their house. He was upset about being blamed”.
