Bihar: Attack on frontline workers over ration; incident caught on camera

It seems like some people are still not understanding the value of frontline workers who are risking their lives to reach out to the needy during coronavirus lockdown. As the attack incidents on the corona warriors have been reported every day. Now, the fresh incident has come to light from Bihar’s East Champaran district on Wednesday, where a team of doctors, policemen were attacked by villagers.

Reportedly, the villagers blocked the way of the health workers and police who were on duty to raise awareness among people.


In the incident, several policemen, a Block Development Officer (BDO) and health staff were injured brutally. The attack took place in Harsidi village on Wednesday. All the injured persons were rushed to the hospital.

According to media reports, police and health departments had gone to the village after complaints that people were not following social distancing and lockdown guidelines.

After which team reached the spot to aware people on how to maintain social distancing.

Instead of following the instructions, villagers started pelting stones on the cops and doctors alleging they haven’t got ration for the last three months.

Meanwhile, no arrests have been made in this violent attack on workers. Police said that their priority is to take care of the injured persons and other health staff. However, Police will surely take action against the accused of stone pelting at them.

According to the data of the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, the number of coronavirus cases in Bihar has increased to 70, including one death.
