Bengaluru: 26-year-old techie sexually assaulted by fellow passenger inside train

An appalling case has come to light from Bengaluru where a 26-year-old software professional was allegedly molested by a co-passenger inside the train.

The shocking incident took place on Saturday when the victim was returning from a temple visit in Tamil Nadu via Mailaduturai-Mysore Express train.


The accused allegedly started harassing the woman inside the moving train and when the train stopped at a station, he alighted and moved his hands through the train’s window, he sexually assaulted her. The assaulted woman tried to nab the accused with the help of other passengers, unfortunately, he managed to escape from the station.

The whole incident took place when the woman was returning from Tiruchirappalli in Tamil Nadu after visiting a temple.

How accused assaulted woman?

The accused has been identified as P Rangan (40), had travelled to Dharmapuri from Tiruchirappalli. Rangan was strolling on the platform near the woman’s berth. When the train started moving, he immediately moved his hands through the window of the train and molested her. The victim woman tried to catch the accused but he managed to escape by running out of the railway station, reports in Bangalore Mirror.

Daring Woman:

After the assault, the brave woman immediately came to respond and bring the matter to light after complaining to the ticket collector and gathered all information about the accused.

The 26-year-old techie registered a complaint against the accused at the Cantonment Railway Station. The accused has been booked under Section 354A (Sexual harassment) of the Indian Penal Code.
