Andhra Pradesh: Priest tied to pole, thrashed by villagers for sexually assaulting minor girl in Ongole city

A priest was tied to a pole and beaten up by villagers for sexually assaulting a minor girl in Andhra Pradesh’s Ongole city in Prakasam district.

The priest was later given to the police by the locals.


He has been taken into custody on charges of sexually assaulting a minor girl in Ongole . He allegedly assualted the minor girl on the pretext of warding off evil spirit.

The accused priest, identified as Gajjela Vishnu, from Telangana, lured the father of the victim assuring prosperity in his family. The family has claimed that the priest had been performing Tantrik rituals on them for over 40 days by getting all members of the family naked.

He, later, sexually assaulted the minor girl by offering her prasadam laced with intoxicants and taking her to another room.

The priest had assaulted the girl for many days before a suspicious family member later raised his doubts and approached elders in the village.

He was brought outside the house by villagers, tied to a pole, and beaten up by them. He was later handed over to the police.

A case has been filed against the priest and police has started an investigation into the matter. The minor girl has been sent for medical examination.
