Social media cannot handle that George Michael died on Christmas
If you thought that after Jayalalithaa passed away 2016 couldn't get any worse, you were wrong. On 25 December, Christmas day, British music legend and one-half of the duo Wham!, George Michael passed away. He died at the tender age of 53.
While Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go might be the most popular, thanks to a cover version by Pomplamoose, it's his song Last Christmas that has never sounded so haunting as it has on Christmas Day in 2016. Michael along with Andrew Ridgeley - the other half of the duo Wham! released the song back in 1984 and it went on to hit number two on the UK charts. The song isn't about Christmas but instead about a failed relationship. The song "Last Christmas has been covered by almost 500 artists!
Social media is having a breakdown with the fact that Michael passed away on Christmas day. Just take a look:
