Pakistan pacer Sohail Tanvir's shocking revelation about the national team

Pakistan pacer Sohail Tanvir has acknowledged that he did not think that the Pakistan cricket team was deserving enough to make it to the last four of the ongoing edition of the World Cup 2019.

Pakistan only just missed out on reaching the semi finals as New Zealand had a better net run rate then them.

After a discouraging start to the World Cup, Pakistan caught up after their defeat to the men in blues as they won four stright matches, where they won South Africa, New Zealand, Afghanistan and Bangladesh.

They also defeated the host England earlier on, but despite finishing with a record of five wins and three losses and one match being abandoned due to rain, the fell short of qualifying for the semi finals.

“To be brutally honest, Pakistan’s exit after the group stage was always on the cards,” Tanvir wrote in his blog for PakPassion. “If you look at our performances in ODIs in the last few years, and the two series preceding the World Cup, coupled with an embarrassing loss to Afghanistan in the warm-up game, it was clear that we would struggle in the tournament,” Tanvir said.

“Yes, things could have been different had we somehow qualified for the semi-finals as after that point all sides have an equal chance of going through – at that point, regardless of the final result, I would have said “mission accomplished” for Pakistan. But sadly that did not happen and we ended up coming home before the semi-finals,” he added.
