Most expensive players in IPL auction from 2015 to 2019

The IPL 2020 auction is all set to take place in Kolkata on 19th December and within the purse limit the teams will look to get the best of the available talents. With some players attracting big bidding while some will have to compromise on less than expected money.

IPL 2015, Yuvraj Singh:

Former Indian cricketer Yuvraj Singh rewrote the record books when he was bought for Rs 16 crore by Delhi Daredevils, but the latter was not to live up to his price tag as he cumulated just 248 runs from 14 games.

IPL 2016, Shane Watson:

The Aussie all rounder was picked up by Royal Challengers Bangalore for a huge amount of Rs 9.5 crore, which was the most expensive purchase of that edition. But he didn’t perform as he was expected to, which was to bring balance in RCB line up.

IPL 2017, Ben Stokes:

The advent of the English all-rounder Ben Stokes gave way to fervent bidding as he was bought by Rising Pune SuperGiants for Rs 14.5 crore. He was brilliant for the Pune side amassing 316 runs and scalping 12 wickets. Stokes was dubed as the most valuable player of the season.
