After demanding evidence for air strike, Digvijay Singh now terms Pulwama terror attack an 'accident'

Senior Congress leader Digvijay Singh, after demanding evidence for the IAF strike in Pakistan’s Balakot, has termed the Pulwama terror attack an “accident”.

In one of his tweet, Digvijay Singh has stated that “Although after Pulwama accident, the ‘Air strike’ operation carried out by the Air Force is being questioned by the foreign media, after which a situation of trust deficit is being created on Government of India.”

Earlier, Congress leader had courted controversy by demanding evidence from the Indian government of the recent air strike across the LoC and suggested that it must be displayed in front of the public.

Briefing the reporters, Singh had said, “I am not questioning the recent IAF action against Pakistan-based terrorist camps, but pictures of any incident in open space can be accessed through satellite technology. So we should also give evidence, the way the United States government presented evidence of Osama bin Laden’s killing before the world.”

While praising the step of Pakistan PM Imran Khan for releasing IAF Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman even amidst the tension and escalation at the border, Singh said, “I also congratulate the honourable Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan for showing us a new way of being a good neighbour and returned the brave Indian Air Force officer to us.”

Congress leader added that “Now he should show courage by handing over [Lashkar-e-Taiba founder] Hafiz Saeed and [Jaish-e-Mohammad chief] Masood Azhar to us.”

India had earlier conducted a “pre-emptive non-military” strike across the LoC by Indian Air Force Mirage 2000 wherein fighter jets dropped around 1000 kgs of bomb at the terror camps of Jaish-e-Mohammad.
