Box office report: Newton performs well at box office

Rajkummar Rao’s Newton, which is been selected as official entry for Oscar this year, has performed well at box office in the opening weekend. Footfall for the film increased due to positive response and reviews, even though it started on the slow note. In first three days it has earned Rs. 6.90 crore.

 Sanjay Dutt’s much awaited comeback film Bhoomi too released this week. Although film earned decent money on day one, it has not performed as per the expectations. In the opening weekend, the film has managed to collect Rs. 7. 48 inspite of getting released in highest number of screen compared to Newton and Haseena.

 Shraddha Kapoor and Siddhant Kapoor’s Haseena too released this week along with Newton and Bhoomi. The film got average reviews and the film has earned Rs. 7.5 crore on the weekend.

 Last week’s release Simran, starring Kangana Ranaut has collected 15.48 crore in a week. On the other hand Shubh Mangal Savdhan and Bareilly Ki Barfi are still doing well at box office.

 Next week Varun Dhawan, Taapsee Pannu and Jacqueline Fernandez starrer Judwaa 2 is set to release on extended holiday weekend.
