Saif Ali Khan denies Imtiaz Ali's next Aaj Kal featuring Kartik Aaryan and Sara is not a sequel to Love Aaj Kal

An exact decade ago on this date, Saif Ali Khan and Deepika Padukone starrer Love Aaj Kal released and turned out to be a successful venture for both the actors. Imtiaz Ali directorial film did good at the box office and it was appreciated also. The film was made under the banners of producers Dinesh Vijan and also Saif Ali Khan. However, reports are that Imtiaz's next film Aaj Kal with Sara and Kartik is a sequel to Love Aaj Kal.

Although, Saif Ali Khan has reacted to it and he said that he doesn't think that Aaj Kal is Love Aaj Kal's sequel. He said, “I don’t think Love Aaj Kal is my legacy at all. I don’t think of it as Sara taking the franchise forward. That’s an interesting thought, which I hadn’t thought before. I think if anything, it’s Imtiaz’s franchise and his legacy that perhaps he is taking forward, I was just a part of it.”

“If Sara is a part of it, I see no relation between the two movies. Maybe that’s because I don’t view the profession as legacy-based. I just think she is a really interesting personality on-screen. Sara is very smart, and got her own lovely ideas about things, so it’s refreshing to talk to her,” added Saif.

Saif also told he doesn't feel that Aaj Kal is a sequel to Love Aaj Kal, he said, “I don’t see it as a continuation. If it had been, I think that’s a producer’s thought, and I probably would have produced it for her or something like this. That’s just no how it has come about. Imtiaz should probably try and make one of these every 10 years, calling it ‘Aaj Kal’ with different actors! I am hoping it is a different story, though.”

Let us tell you that Imtiaz Ali had recently completed the shooting of his next directorial tentatively titled as Aaj Kal. The film stars Sara Ali Khan and Kartik Aaryan in the leading roles. The movie is slated to release in Valentine 2020 week.
