Miss Universe 2019: Meet South Africa’s Zozibini Tunzi who won beauty pageant title

2019 Miss Universe beauty pageant took place in Atlanta on Sunday. Out of the top 10 models, South Africa’s Zozibini Tunzi won the title. While Miss Puerto Rico Madison Anderson bagged the second place and Miss Mexico Sofía Aragón became the second-runner up. Well, those who don't know who is Zozibini then here we are with some unknown facts about the third woman of South Africa who won the title.

18-year-old Tunzi was born in Tsolo to parents named Philiswa Nadapu and Lungisa Tunzi. She graduated with a bachelors degree in Public Relations and Image Management in 2018. Before winning Miss Universe’s title Tunzi was crowned Miss South Africa title. In the meantime, she also worked as an intern in the PR department of Ogilvy Cape Town.

About Tunzi Career

 

Zozibini Tunzi began her career in 2017 where she participated in the Miss South Africa 2017 pageant. Her life was full ups and downs, however, she didn't restrained and kept participating in the various beauty pageant.

Not just this she is also the first black woman to win the Miss Universe title since Leila Lopes in 1977. After winning the Miss Universe title Tunzi sais, “I grew up in a world where a woman who looks like me with my kind of skin and my kind of hair was never considered to be beautiful. And I think that's time that stops today. I want children to look at me and see my face and I want them to see their faces reflected in mine."

 

Apart from being a model she is also an activist and is mostly seen raising voice against the gender-based violence.
