After bowling Bangladesh out for 150 earlier in the day, India tightened its grip on the first Test as Gill and Cheteshwar Pujara took India’s score tally to the 400-run mark. KL Rahul, the captain, decided not to enforce the follow-on.

Shubman Gill scored his three-figure score after the Tea Break as he took the attack to Bangladesh's part-time bowlers, who were surprisingly operating at the start of the session.

The batter entered his 90s in style with a marvelous six against Litton Das. He also scored 100 with a style by hitting the ball to the boundary.

Undoubtedly, Gill dominated the Bangladesh attack after starting the innings on a scratchy note. He scored 70 runs with skipper KL Rahul, who threw his wicket away when batting on 23.

He then stitched a 100-plus stand with senior batter Cheteshwar Pujara and pulled India’s score to 400 marks.

The right-handed opener displayed marvelous cricket even after surviving two-on field LBW decisions. But his hitting array was stopped on 110 by Hasan.

The Bangladeshi team was playing without two of its best bowlers - Shakib Al Hasan and fast bowler Ebadot Hossain as the hosts were unable to stem the flow of runs from India, who were building to their total at a rate of more than 3.5 runs per over.
