Malayalam actor Nivin Pauly's first straight Tamil film Richie finally gets a release date. The film, an official remake of Rakshit Shetty's Kannada blockbuster Ulidavaru Kandanthe also marks the directorial debut of Gautham Ramachandran. Gautham has previously worked as an associate to director Mysskin.

Richie stars U-Turn fame Shraddha Srinath and Salt Mango Tree fame Lakshmi Priyaa Chandramouli as the female leads.

Though Richie was earlier scheduled to release in May, but the makers postponed to a different date citing delay in shoot completion as the reason.

However, the latest Kollywood reports suggest that the shooting of the film has completed in Chennai and is confirmed for a July release.

Nivin Pauly will reprise the role of Richard Anthony portrayed by Rakshit Shetty in its original version. The original version also featured Kishore, Sheethal Shetty, and Yagna Shetty.

Richie also stars Prakash Raj, Natty Aadukalam Murugadoss and Ashwin Kumar in supporting roles.
