Rahul Gandhi threatened with being bombed as soon as he reaches Indore

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi got a death threat on Friday ahead of the Bharat Jodo Yatra's entry into Madhya Pradesh. Rahul Gandhi has been threatened with being bombed as soon as he arrives in Indore.

A letter threatening that Rahul Gandhi would be killed was found outside a shop in Indore which falls under the jurisdiiction of Juni police station. In the meantime, police have started looking into the CCTV footage of the area and are looking for the person who left the threat letter.

According to police officials, a case under section 507 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) has been filed against an unidentified person and a probe has been launched. The accused in this case might have to face charges under the NSA.

The death threat comes a day after Rahul Gandhi spoke about VD Savarkar, saying that he helped the British rulers and wrote a mercy petition to them out of fear. The remarks of Wayanad MP sparked a row and drew criticism and triggered protests.

Displaying Savarkar's letter seeking mercy, he added, "Savarkar ji wrote in it: I beg to remain, sir, your most obedient servant. When he signed this letter, what was the reason? It was fear. He was afraid of the British."
