Watch: 4 'suspicious' men held from outside CBI director Alok Verma's house; Delhi police probing the case

The Delhi police has arrested 4 suspected individuals from outside the house of CBI director Alok Verma, who was sent on leave yesterday after a governments order.

The 4 men were snooping from the car parked outside Verma’s house, after the security personnel held all four and took them inside the house. They belonged to Intelligence Bureau, as the initial reports are suggesting.

The group was sitting in a car near 2, Akbar road, the high security zone of Delhi, around 7:45 am. Visuals of the 4 men being dragged by the security personnel into the house were recorded.

Alok Verma was the Delhi police commissioner before he became CBI director, and Delhi police was called in, who were later arrested and taken to unknown place, the sources have said.

This incident has led open speculations of surveillance on Alok Verma, who was sent on leave after yesterday by the government and M Nageshwar Rao took over as the interim chief of the CBI. The case pertains to the investigations launched against the special director and deputy of Verma, Rakesh Asthana, against whom an FIR was launched by the CBI director, making him an accuse in the case.

 

“Earlier visuals of two of the four people (who were seen outside the residence of Alok Verma) being taken for questioning” as reported by the ANI.

The CBI infighting has led to an institutional crisis of the premier investigating agency, after the battle between the No 1 and No 2 of the agency took it to the courts.
