Virbhadra Singh's constituency's village residents may boycott Himachal polls

The residents of one of the villages in the constituency of Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh - Arki - have demanded to shift the village permanently to a safe and pollution-free zone.

Over 500 residents of the Rauri village in Darlaghat area of the Arki assembly constituency warned the authorities and political parties to either shift the village to a pollution-free zone or face boycott in the assembly elections, which are to be held on 9 November, for safety, security and a pollution-free life for the future.

This village is nearly 20 m close to the factory of Ambuja Cement, which is said to be producing sound and air pollution.

"The women here are suffering from skin and respiratory diseases due to the dust and air pollution. They can't sleep during the nights as sound pollution not only disturbs them, but also, cracks have been carved into the buildings of this area," a local villager said.
