Tamil Nadu Omicron Fear: Covid-19 vaccination mandatory after one week to access public places in Madurai

Tamil Nadu: Madurai Dist. Collector Aneesh Sekhar has given one week to people to get their first dose of the Covid19 vaccine, failing which public places will be made out of bounds areas for unvaccinated people.

"One week's time has been given to people to get at least one dose of COVID19 vaccine, failing which those unvaccinated people to be not allowed to enter public places like hotels, shopping malls & other commercial establishments", ANI reported Madurai Dist. Collector Aneesh Sekhar as saying.

Tamil Nadu government has been taking steps to help people overcome vaccination hesitancy and this step is being seen as an effort to step up the fight against the new Covid-19 variant known as Omicron.

Even before the scare of Omicron in Chennai, authorities have been passing orders to keep public places out of the reach of unvaccinated people so that they shun their vaccine hesitancy and get their covid19 jab as soon as possible.

Earlier, Kanyakumari collector made vaccination certificates mandatory for tipplers to get liquor from Tasmac outlets.

Krishnagiri collector Dr V Jayachandra Bhanu Reddy banned access to public places for unvaccinated people.

Erode corporation on Friday banned access to 16 places such as schools, colleges, hospitals, shopping malls and recreational centres for unvaccinated people in the city.
