Surgical Strike-2: India attacks Pakistan's army headquarter across LOC in response to mortar shelling in Poonch; see video

In response to the mortar shelling in Poonch and Jhallas sector, Indian Army launched a full pounded attack on Pakistan Army headquarters across the Line of Control in Pakistan-occupied-Kashmir.

The attack targeted around 3 base camps of the terrorist, and this comes after the Pakistani army attacked the infantry brigade headquarters in Poonch on 23rd October, including an army base camp.

The ANI was told that Indian Army had exercised maximum restraint during the operation. A report said “The Indian side has consciously avoided targeting or harassing civilian population in Pakistan towns of Hajira, Nikial and Samani, which are in close proximity to the LoC.”

Earlier, Lieutenant Colonel Devender Anand had said that, “Today, approximately at 10.30 a.m., in a ceasefire violation, Pakistan troops fired a rocket-propelled grenade and also resorted small arms firing. One round landed on a barrel-type store shelter in Poonch, causing fire.”

The attack comes over two years after the Indian Army carried out surgical strikes in September 2016 at terrorist launch pads across the LoC in response to the strikes witnessed in Uri and Nagrota sectors of Jammu and Kashmir.

Earlier in the month, a reported published by The Dawn had noted that uneducated and unemployed youth were being targeted primarily for carrying out a wide range of terrorist activities. The report further claimed that deprivation and penury of PoK locals suited the Pakistan Army, which, while ensconced in the safety of their posts, used these youth as cannon fodder for action along the Line of Control.
