Surat rape case: Shocking! Accused held, claims to have bought victim and her mother for Rs 35,000

In a major twist and turn in a brutal rape and murder case of a minor girl in Surat, who was found in a cricket ground with at least 86 injuries on her body including private parts, police have held the prime accused from the Rajasthan. As per the reports, the investigation reveals that the girl and her widowed mother were sold for Rs 35,000. The minor and victims- who belonged to Gangapur in Rajasthan were bought by the accused to be used as bonded labourers.

After, three-four days the minor's body was found in a Surat's cricket ground, the police had recovered the body of a woman and claims it the woman might be the victim's mother. The Crime Branch held Harsayai Gurjar, 35 from Rajasthan's Gangapur in Sawai Madhopur district along with three others- Harisinh, Naresh, Amarsinh on Friday.

Harsayai bought the duo widowed mother and daughter on March 15 and kept them confined in a room in his three-storey house in Gujarat's Surat. He repeatedly raped the mother-daughter and threatened the woman to kill her when she objected to his advances.

A report quotes police officials as claiming that after the woman went missing on March 20, Harsayai held the girl captive in Harish's room in Surat and continued to torture and rape her. The girl was strangulated to death on April 5, police further added.

Speaking to TOI, Crime Branch Inspector Kiran Chaudhary said that Harsayai dumped the girl’s body in bushes on the Jiav-Budiya Road which is nearly 2 km from his house. Police have detained Harsayai's car in which he took the body for dumping.

After the Gujarat police failed to track the accused, Crime Branch was handed over the case on April 15.

The body of the minor girl was found in Surat's Pandesara area on April 6 with 86 injuries, including on the private parts. The Dr claimed that the girl was kept captive, tortured and repeatedly raped. The postmortem report stated that she was strangulated to death.

With regard to the case, the police had lodged an FIR under sections 302 (murder), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), and 376 (rape), and under provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act against unidentified persons.
