PM Modi offers prayers at Shirdi Sai Baba temple; handover house keys to Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojna beneficiaries

Prime Minister Narendra Modi today visited the temple town of Shirdi in Maharashtra, to attend the closing ceremony of a year-long festival, which marked the centenary of samadhi of the Shirdi’s Sai Baba.

PM Modi even handed the keys to the beneficiaries of the Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana- Grameen and had interactions with a few of them via video conferencing. CM Devendra Fadnavis and governor CV Rao were also present at the event.

While addressing the supporters of the BJP, PM Modi attacked the Congress party and alleged that the grand old party is keen on promoting the Gandhi family name only. “Previous governments were not serious about poverty alleviation; their sole objective was to promote a particular family," he said.

"The previous government in their last four years made 25 lakh houses. However, the BJP government has built 1 crore 25 lakh homes in the same amount of time, if that government was still in power, they would take 20 years to build the same amount of homes as us," PM Modi added.

He promoted the tourism of the state and said it was encouraging to see Maharashtra always on the path of growth. “In Maharashtra, there are many places associated with faith like Shirdi. There are also places like Ajanta-Alora where devotees from all over the world come to visit," he said.

He later added that "I have been told that flights coming into Shirdi will be increased in frequency so that Sai devotees all over the globe can come to offer their prayers."
