Mumbai Building Collapse: 2 dead, 7 rescued in Dongri building collapse

Two dead, seven injured after a four-storey building collapsed in Mumbai's Dongri area on Tuesday, Maharashta minister confirmed the news. While around 40-50 people are feared to be trapped

The incident took place around 11 am when the building 'Kesarbai' situated near Tandel street, behind Abdul Hamid Shah Dargah, Dongri collapsed. 

Fire tenders and a team of National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) rushed to the site and are carrying out the rescue operation. Earlier, Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) Disaster Management Cell confirmed two people have died while five have been rescued so far, after a building collapsed. 

"We have moved five of our vehicles to the spot. It was Kesarbai building in Dongri which is a four-floor structure. We are still waiting for other details," fire brigade officials said.

 

Meanwhile, Vinod Ghosalkar, chief of the repair board of MHADA, said the building did not belong to the housing body as mentioned by a few locals and a legislator.
