Mumbai: Eleven people died from heatstroke during the Dr. Appasaheb Dharmadhikari Maharashtra Bhushan award ceremony in Kharghar, Navi Mumbai, as announced by the Maharashtra Chief Minister's office.

CM announces compensation for victims
Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has declared that the families of the deceased Shri members will receive a compensation of five lakh rupees each, and that the entire medical expenses of those who are still receiving treatment will be covered by the state government.
