Lok Sabha Election 2019: Priyanka Gandhi to kick start 'Boat' campaign in UP, PM Modi's Varanasi is last stop

As the 2019 Lok Sabha election is around the corner, the Congress’ General Secretary in-charge of UP East, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra would be kicking off her poll campaign via ‘Boat’ from Prayagraj and will end at PM Modi’s bastion Varanasi.

It is being speculated that Priyanka would be meeting the community which lives across the river, basically the ‘Mallahas’ and other fisher communities. She would be travelling via boat from Prayagraj to Mirzapur and for now, she’ll be in Lucknow.

She arrived in Lucknow today and went to Congress' party office to meet the office bearers and disucss the roadmap.

New agency ANI tweeted, “Congress General Secretary UP-East Priyanka Gandhi Vadra arrives in Lucknow, to hold meeting with party workers today. She will take a 3-day, 140 km long 'ganga-yatra' on a steamer boat, starting tomorrow, from Chhatnag in Prayagraj to Assi Ghat in Varanasi.”

As she travels through boat, it is expected that Gandhi scion would be criticising the Modi government’s Namami Gange project, to clean Ganga. She has now arrived in Lucknow and would be traveling to Prayagraj in the evening.

The triangular contest in politically important state of Uttar Pradesh has begun and as Congress failed to bring a tie-up with the SP-BSP alliance, it can play a vital role in cutting votes for the Opposition and might benefit the incumbent BJP.

Although, the UP CM Yogi Adityanath had said that Priyanka Gandhi in UP makes “no difference” for the Congress, adding that “the Congress has made her (Priyanka) its general secretary (in-charge of eastern UP) this time. It is an internal matter of that party. Earlier too she had campaigned for the Congress. This time also it will make no difference (to the BJP).”
