‘Hum raste me hain’: Donald Trump tweets ahead of his two-day trip to India

US President Donald Trump issued a tweet in Hindi short before his arrival in Ahmedabad for his first officail visit to India. "We are eager to visit India. We are on our way, will meet everyone in a few hours," read the tweet in Hindi script.

The Trumps will arrive a little before noon in Ahmedabad in Gujarat. On the first day of his two-day visit, the US President will use up most of the day in Gujarat’s largest city with Prime Minsiter Narendra Modi.

The two have exchanged a series of tweets before their much anticipated meeting.

PM Modi has in the past often welcomed foreign leaders by tweeting in their language.

For President Donald Trump, who is facing an election later this year, this visit is a key method of connecting with the Indian American Community.

Earlier, PM Modi had issued a tweet for his American couterpart, "India awaits your arrival. Your visit is definitely going to further strengthen the friendship between our nations. See you very soon in Ahmedabad".

Upon their arrival, President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump will be greeted by the Prime Minsiter and then will be taken to Sabarmati Ashram. There, the US delegation will be treated to Gujarati delicacy Khaman, broccoli samosa, apple pie and Kaju Katli.

President Trump and PM Modi will then move towards the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Stadium where they will address a huge crowd billed as ‘Namaste Trump’.

President Donald Trump has many a time talked about being welcomed by six to ten million people in Ahmedabad, he has told a home crowd at one of his rallies, would make all assemblage in the US look like ‘peanuts’.
