'Hindus are thugs who massacred Muslims': This is what Pakistan's school books are teaching students

An untold number of people died in the savage violence that followed after the India-Pakistan partition in 1947. The bloodbath scattered the seeds of bitterness and hatred in both the nations. Even after 70 years since the subcontinent was divided into two independent countries - Hindu-majority India and Muslim-majority Pakistan, history books are still polarised by nationalism.

Pakistani students know everything about the bloodshed that erupted when India split into two nations 70 years ago. They think, "Hindus are thugs who massacred Muslims, confiscated their property, and forced them to leave India". They know it because that's what their history books tell them.

A history text book approved by the government of Pakistan for fifth graders in Pak's Baluchistan province describe Hindus as 'thugs' who 'massacred Muslims, confiscated their property, and forced them to leave India'. According to DailyMail, the books further adds that Hindus looked down upon Muslims, that is the reason why Pakistan was created.

On this side of the border, Indian students learn how Mahatma Gandhi fought for a unified India free from British subjugation while Muhammad Ali Jinnah Pakistan's founder sided with British for the formation of Pakistan.
