Goa Crisis: Congress claims it has numbers to form government in the state; Amit Shah steps in, will meet Goa BJP leaders

Goa Congress along with 14 MLAs have claimed to have a number to form a government in Goa as BJP's ailing CM Manohar Parrikar has been admitted in AIIMS, Delhi. While Congress had over 21 legislators in the 40-member Goa Assembly opposition party said on Wednesday.

"We have the required numbers. I am not going to tell you whom we are in discussions with, but we need the support of 21 MLAs and we have more than that," said Chandrakant Kavlekar, Leader of Opposition in the state. The political situation in the state was in the favour of the Congress, added Kavlekar.

Meanwhile, following the Goa crisis BJP chief Amit Shah step in and called a meeting with Goa BJP leaders to prevent any kind of political crisis.

Earlier, Congress has demanded President's rule in Goa. Congress' Goa spokesman Ramakant Khalap had said the state is facing a "constitutional crisis", and that he has sought an appointment with Governor Mridula Sinha to press for his party's demand for President's Rule.

Congress has also criticised Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar, who was being rushed to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Delhi on Saturday, for not handing over the charge of the administration to any of his cabinet colleagues.
