Congress alleges Manohar Parrikar hiding Rafale deal files in his bedroom with an audio tape; Goa CM calls it 'doctored'

With new year, a fresh controversy hit out as Congress alleged that Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar is hiding Rafale deal files in his bedroom under his bed with an audio tape on Wednesday. The grand old party claimed that it has audio recordings where Goa BJP minister can be heard saying that the then defence minister and present Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar possesses all files related to the Rafale jet deal.

Reportedly, Parrikar was the defence minister when the deal was signed with French defence manufacturing giant Dassault Aviation. Responding to the allegations, Goa CM Manohar Parrikar defended himself and called it a desperate attempt to fabricate facts after Supreme Court’s clean chit to BJP in the Rafale deal.

"The audio clip released by the Congress party is a desperate attempt to fabricate facts after their lies were exposed by the recent Supreme Court verdict on Rafale. No such discussion ever came up during Cabinet or any other meeting,” Goa CM Parrikar tweeted.

Meanwhile, Goa Minister Vishwajit P Rane wrote to Goa CM Manohar Parrikar in regard with the audio tape released by Congress on Rafale. "This is a doctored audio & I have never had any discussion on this subject with anyone. there should be a thorough inquiry in this matter,” Rane wrote.

Rane is the Goa BJP minister to whom Congress claimed to have discussion with CM Parrikar on Rafale deal of which audio clips they have.

Congress Presiden Rahul Gandhi attacked Goa CM Manohar Parrikar in Lok Sabha session over Rafale deal 'scam'. Rahul Gandhi tries to play an audio tape of Goa Minister Rane saying ‘Manohar Parrikar has secrets of Rafale deal under his bed’ but then refused to play it.
