1: On February 19, 1630, Shivaji Maharaja was born in Shivneri Fort. In Maharashtra people grandly celebrate Shivaji Jayati. Shivaji Maharaj is one of the greatest Maratha rulers who carved an enclave from the dismissing Adilshahi Sultanate of Bijapur that became the start of the Maratha Empire.

2: At the young age of 17 Shivaji had seized the Raigad and Kondana forts. While he already had seized the Toma Fort at the very young age of 16. Shivaji Maharaj was a member of the Bhonsale Maratha clan and was named as Shivaji Bhonsle.

3: Shivaji was well known for his huge military and civil administration. Shivaji Maharaj's mother Jijabai used to worship local goddess Shivai after whom she named Shivaji Maharaj's name. Shahaji Bhonsle, father of Shivaji was the chief of the Bijapur Kingdom. Shivaji Maharaj instrumental in all Maratha chiefs of Kokan, Mayal, Desh regions and was the creator of the Maratha kingdom.

4: In Indian history, Shivaji Maharaj's military prowess and guerilla tactics of warfare have marked its importance. Chhatrapati is not only a hero for the Maratha people but also for the rest of Indians.
