Ball-Tampering Scandal: Here's how Australian Cricket team plotted to cheat South Africa in the Third Test Match In the Third Test match played between South Africa and Australia on Saturday in Cape Town, all Australians and other cricketer are criticizing the team for the ball tampering. The Australian cricket team captain Steve Smith admitted in a press conference that his team had planned to cheat South Africa in the third Test.

On the third day of the third Test, there was a crisis in Australia until the lunch break. South Africa made a 100-run lead against Australia on the loss of one wicket. Despite Australian bowlers efforts to take the wicket of the South African players but none of their strategies came in handy.

The series was 1-1 and hence it was very important for both the teams to win this crucial third Test match to win the title. According to reports, during lunch break, captain Steve Smith and other senior players planned to tamper the ball while bowling, so that the reverse swing happened and their bowlers struggling for the wicket will get help.

In the press conference, Smith also revealed that the members of any coaching staff did not know about this fraud plot of players.

According to Smith, Bancroft was chosen for ball tampering because he was in the dressing room when all senior players were discussing plotting it. And Cameron Bancroft has also accepted his doing.

However, he also said that no one had pressurised him for doing this. Bancroft landed on the field with a yellow tape in his pocket from which he was to tamper the ball. He planned to put the tape on the ball so that the clay would stick to the ball. That will make Australian player to rub the ball and make it old.

Before Bancroft could tamper the ball, the act of Bancroft looked suspicious to the umpire. When umpires went near Bancroft, he put that yellow tape inside his trousers. While the Australian cricket Bancroft's act was captured in the camera, who had staged the Australian players.

However, the Cricket Australia announced a probe in the ball-tampering case. Following which CA has said, Steve Smith and David Warner will stand down as captain and vice-captain for rest of Australia's third Test match against South Africa.

Following discussions which, “Steve Smith and David Warner they have agreed to stand down as captain and vice-captain respectively for the remainder of this Test match," CA chief James Sutherland said in a statement. "This Test match needs to proceed, and in the interim we will continue to investigate this matter with the urgency that it demands," he added.
