Air India plane with 136 passengers on board hits the wall at Trichy airport during takeoff last night. The flight was diverted to Mumbai. The Trichy- Dubai Air India flight with 136 passengers on board hit the ATC compound wall at Trichy Airport on Thursday night.

After which the flight was diverted to Mumbai. The incident reportedly took place around 1:19 am when two of plane's wheels hit the wall. After landing in Mumbai, some damages were noticed on the aircraft.

The flight had got damaged under the belly and was declared fit for operations after inspection at Mumbai Airport. Another flight has been arranged to take the passengers from Mumbai to Dubai, Air India said.

After the incident, an internal inquiry has been set up, pilot & co-pilot derostered until the investigation is done. About the incident, AI express informed DGCA about it. All passengers were landed safely at Mumbai airport & another aircraft from Mumbai to Dubai was arranged, said Air India Express.

The Director General of Civil Aviation will investigate the incident, a senior airport official was quoted saying NDTV. "Two wheels of the flight touched the top part of the boundary wall as the plane appears to have overshot the runway. We will soon replace the ILS (Instrumentation Landing System) antenna," the official said.

The top portion of the airport boundary wall collapsed following the accident.

Another officer said, "We had reported this to the pilot. He had confirmed that everything was fine and hence the flight was diverted to Mumbai."
